How To Promote A Lottery

Once your lottery is up and running it is vital to promote it to increase the chances of your supporters getting involved. We have years of experience helping societies to promote their lotteries. Because of this, we can recommend some of the most effective marketing methods to help you widen your own reach.

Social Media Is Key

Social media is the number one promotional method for society lotteries. Providing you are regularly active across your social media pages, your supporters will trust the information they see on your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. Short posts (including an image or video) are ideal, and it is easy to signpost your supporters to a landing page with all the information they need to sign up. We recommend promoting your lottery at least once a week on social media, as well as posting the weekly results. Key information should include the weekly entry cost and the £25,000 jackpot, as well as a reminder that 100% of the profits go directly to helping your society.

Direct Marketing

Another great way to promote your lottery is through direct marketing. If your charity sends out regular newsletters or emails, either weekly, monthly or quarterly, be sure to include a lottery promotional section. It’s a great opportunity to talk about the benefits of your lottery, as well as your charity itself. As marketing research has demonstrated that most people only react to an advert after seeing it multiple times, frequent reminders about your lottery are important – the more channels you can use, the better!
